Drop protection and surface cleanliness are two requirements that often conflict in protective case design. Soft materials absorb impact but tend to collect dust and fingerprints; hard materials stay clean but transfer shock directly to the device. For the PAX-A77, the goal was to achieve both without compromising either.
We addressed this through material formulation and mold geometry working together. The silicone compound was tuned to provide shock absorption at the corners and base, where drop impact concentrates, while anti-static additives reduce the surface charge that attracts dust and fingerprints. Mold geometry was designed around the terminal's body dimensions, with wall thickness verified at the corners to absorb impact energy without adding bulk. The anti-slip texture was engraved into the mold cavity rather than applied as a coating. Silicone was selected over plastic for its durability and lower environmental impact. This is a brand-customer customization case, not a product for sample sale. Brands developing similar protective solutions can begin with a validation batch of 100 pieces, with all tooling, molding, and inspection completed in-house.
1. Shock Absorption Concentrated at Drop Impact Points : Wall thickness and material hardness are tuned at the corners and base, where drop impact concentrates, rather than applied uniformly across the case. This provides targeted protection without adding unnecessary bulk.
2. Anti-Static Formulation for Dust and Fingerprint Resistance : The silicone compound includes anti-static additives that reduce surface charge, limiting the dust and fingerprint adhesion that commonly affects silicone protective cases in daily use.
3.Material Selection Based on Durability and Environmental Impact : Silicone was chosen over plastic for its long-term durability and lower environmental footprint. The compound is formulated to resist yellowing and hardening over extended service life.
1.Industry Compatibility:
Retail & Payment : POS terminals in stores, supermarkets, hotels, and restaurants requiring device protection
Logistics & Delivery : Handheld POS devices used in field operations, delivery services, and mobile payment scenarios
Unattended & Self-Service : Kiosk terminals, self-checkout devices, and automated payment stations
2.Core Product Application Scenarios:
Retail Store POS Terminals for Daily Handling : Anti-slip silicone case protects devices from drops and impacts during busy checkout operations, with moderate grip reducing handling fatigue for cashiers
High-Volume Checkout Terminals with Receipt Printing : Paper roll access without removing the cover reduces downtime during peak transaction periods
Multi-Location Deployments with Cable Connections : Unobstructed cable port access allows the case to remain in place during maintenance or peripheral changes
